Winter in the Highlands

Winter is a wonderful time to explore the Mountain Highlands. Cold nights and snowy days is on the adjenda for January. The weather is cooperating with area ski resorts. Snowshoe Mountain, Canaan Valley Resort and Timberline are open. Winter adventures await! Winter 2000 promises to be the best ever. If skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing is your passion -- it's all here in the Highlands.

This is a great time to explore the snow-covered national forest areas on snowshoes or cross country skis. It's quiet, uncrowded and perfect for watching winter birds or exploring animal tracks. Also, area caverns are open daily.
